Culled from Our Exchanges. -The Clinton Democrat says Rev. A. S. Pettie, of Mayfield, has been called by the Clinton Baptist church to the pastorate there. -The town of Vereailles has passed H strong tramp ordinance. It is made a flue of $25 to beg on the streets of that town for money or clothing. -Cattle thieves the Paducab Standard has been informed, are operating in this part of the state. Several farmers have lost cattle mysteriously within the past few days. -Mrs. G'd Binford, a daughter of Mr. George Kendall, died Sunday morning at her home near Rock Springs, of consumption. She was about 18 years old.Olinton Democrat. -The grmy worms have made their appearance in large numhere in this county, and fears are apprehended that they will do much damage to the wheat crop. -Newbern Tennessean. -Mr. Logan Card. editor of the Murray Ledger died at his home in urray last Friday of heart failare, aged about 32 years. OBrian is concerned. A Ballard county jury cleared him last Wednesday, notwithstanding the proof against him was so strong. It has been predicted, on what seems to he good grounds, that Breckenridge will be cleared, and that Brown will be sent to the penitentiary for telling on OBrian and Breckenridge.-Ba Star. -White cape again visited sev. eral persons on the lake in the vieinity of Idlewild and Samberg Sundav night. The white caps, who claimed to be from this place, charged several men with stealing and notified them to leave the country. The names of the persons visited could not be learned. One of them. it is said, stated that were 150 men in the gang and that they all rode white horses.-Obion Democrat. -The Farmers Tobacco Bank has gone into liquidation. A stockholders meeting was beld May 1st and after but little diecussion a large majority of the stock Noted to close business. IT le a pleasure to know that our congressman, Hon. W. J. Stone, is 80 much admired throughout the State. We notice articles frequently in various of the State voluntarily com. mending bis sterling worth and earnest and faithful devotion to bis duty at Washington. This is what the people want. Stone is not one of those brilliant orators whose meteorio eloquence flashes across the country once in a while, dazzles a moment, and then lapses into darkness, while the author of it is skylarking around the country and neglecting the routine work of his duty; Stone is not that kind, but he is better. He staye there and attends to business all the time. He is persistant and faithful; and at the end accomplishes more than the sparty orator who is famous only for his empty words -Mavfield
