Dr. Graham received a message Wednesday from his folks at Wetmore, telling of the death of his Dr. C. M. Lukens, 60, of Muskota, Kan. Dr. Graham and wife left Thursday for which was held Friday. Dr. Lukens had been in poor health for some time, but his death was not expected. Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Griffeth, who have been in Belleville for the past few weeks, where Mr. Griffeth has been building a new. house for Mr. and Mrs. Art Griffin, have returned to Republic and will make their home spring in the Page property which was recently purchased by the Rev. and Mrs. LaPort. The Republic 4-H club met November 14 at the high school building at 7:30. The meeting was opened by the president. Dee and Dallas Stafford were taken in as new members. B. Angle gave short talk concerning the 4-H club work at the fairs which he attended this year. After short sick at this time, having suffered a paralytic stroke last Wednesday. The Ladies Library club met for a study meeting, November 16, at the club rooms. Mrs. Chappell gave paper and Mrs. Gardner had charge of a spelling contest. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Read of Rexford, of Republic were visiting the first of the week here with Mrs. Will Gardner and family, and with Mrs. Kelley. Mrs. Kelley accompanied her daughter and husband their home in Rexford and will remain with them for the winter. Montana Stephensen and Lena Sankey attended the football game at Clyde Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ambrose and family of Linden, formerly of Republic, will spend Thanksgiving day with friends here. Kim Clabaugh and family of Guide Rock spent one day last week with Clabaugh's sister, Mrs. Clarence Haptonstall and family Dr. Layton and Tudor and Donald Charles went to Manhattan football game Saturday. Workmen have commenced this week on the Ford garage owned by F. Z.Stover. They are making large opening in the northeast corner of the building and will make another filling station there. Miss Vera Noble motored to Manhattan to attend the U.Aggie football game Saturday Funeral Service. No extra charge because of Adv. ENLARGE ROSE MOUND PLOT The Rose Mound cemetery near Republic has been enlarged, through the donation of adjoining land by George M. Powell, and the new plot of ground leveled and fenced in with the rest the cemetery. The Rose Mound is one of the best rural cemeteries in the county.
