Description

Two separate articles: a 1927 article indicates the bank had previously closed and a receiver pursued recovery (verdict against former president Elbert Read). The 1933 article reports the Shenandoah National Bank and a state bank ending a banking holiday and reopening for restricted business per national and state banking department rulings. For the 1933 event there is no mention of a depositor run; it was a suspension/holiday imposed and the banks reopened with restrictions.
