Description

Articles (Feb 12 and Feb 17, 1932) report a run that caused the Home Savings Bank to be closed for about two weeks. An examiner audited the books and found accounts straight; lack of cash from withdrawals prevented reopening. Deposit boxes were made accessible. There is strong indication the bank would reopen soon, but no explicit article confirming final reopening—therefore episode classified as run -> suspension with outcome unsure.

HOME SAVINGS BANK. The bank examiner from Jeffer son City has finished checking up the books in the Home Savings Bank, which has been closed the past two weeks, due to a run on the bank. He has given out the information that the books and all accounts in the bank were found absolutely straight, and that the only thing lacking to re-open the bank is some more cash, made short by withdrawals. From what we can learn we are inclined to think that within a short time the bank will be re-opened. A bank is certainly needed here as it is very unhandy to conduct business without one.
