C. A. RENSHAW IS NAMED RECEIVER MUSSELSH'LL BANK
APPOINTMENT IS ANNOUNCED BY JUDGE GEO. A. HORKAN OF DISTRICT COURT.
Announcement of the appointment of Mayor C. A. Renshaw of Roundup to be receiver of the Musselshell State Bank, which suspended operations in December, was received here Tuesday. The appointment was made by Judge Geo. A. Horkan of this judicial district upon recommendation of the board of county commissioners, Musselshell county being one of the heaviest depositors. Salary of the receiver is fixed by the court at $200 per month, and his bond is fixed at $25,000.
In making the appointment Judge Horkan made the following statement:
"In the appointment of a receiver for the Musselshell State Bank of Musselshell, Montana, the Court has taken into consideration the best interests of the depositors and those directly interested in the bank. The state superintendent of banks, as directed by law, placed in nomination the present deputy in charge, Mr. S. Roll. Petitions were presented to the Court requesting the appointment of Mr. Frank A. Seccor, of Musselshell. Mr. Seccor is one of the sureties upon the bond given by the bank to Musselshell county, to insure the safety and prompt payment of county deposits upon demand therefor. He obligated himself in that bond to the extent of $10,000. He is personally interested to this extent at least, and the court did not deem it good business to appoint him receiver because of this fact. The board of county commissioners of Musselshell county submitted to me thru its chairman, a written request recommending most highly Mr. C. A. Renshaw of Roundup, and stating therein that in the board's opinion his appointment would be for the best interest of Musselshell county as well as the other depositors and persons interested in said banking institution. Other depositors have made a like recommendation. Musselshell county has on deposit in said bank some $65,000, and its interests should be protected, and it is entitled to a voice in the appointment of a receiver. The court has carefully gone into the qualifications of Mr. Renshaw to fill this position, and it fully believes he is capable of handling the affairs of the bank to the best interests of all the depositors and other persons concerned. That he has no conflicting interests and that he has no axes to grind, and that he will wind up the affairs of the bank with equal fairness to all concerned in a speedy, economical, and business-like manner. Having this opinion the court had no hesitancy in appointing Mr. Renshaw as receiver of said institution, and has placed his salary at the sum of $200.00 per month and fixed his bond in the sum of $25,000.00."
