EATON RAPIDS BANK CLOSES FRIDAY NOON Glenn Spears. Cashier. Issues Statement Regarding Condition of Institution Special to The State Journal EATON RAPIDS. Dec. 11 The Michigan State bank, one the oldest banking in this vicinity. closed its doors Friday noon. statement by Glenn Spears, cashier, said the bank was closed for the protection of depositors. At the state banking department at Lansing it was said there had been no concentrated run on the bank but gradual withdrawal of deposits. Mr. Spears says he believed he would be able to pay dein full. The bank's statement of September 29 showed deposits of $430,000 but they have declined since that time. Total assets of the bank on the same date amounted to The bank opened for business Fri. day morning but closed its doors just before noon and was placed in the hands of the state banking department.
