Clark in decisions today relative to the conduct of banks in this district, which are in receivership, ordered the salary of F. A. McElroy, assistant receiver of three banks, reduced $50 in each instance, a total reduction of $150 a month. McElroy is assistant receiver for the C. M. Condon bank in Oswego, the Farmers and Merchants bank in Chetopa and the Labette State bank in Labette. Elmer W. Columbia, who is attorney for the Labette State bank and for the Farmers and Merchants bank, also suffered a salary reduction of $100 a month. He filed notice for a new hearing. The salary of W. S. Hyatt, attorney for the Bartlett State bank, was cut from $200 to $100 a month. A further order was entered, requesting McElroy to explain his expense account. Judge Clark suggested that C. J. BANK RECEIVERS GET LESS. Kansas Judge Orders Reduction in Salaries. OSWEGO, KAS., June 13.β€”District Judge Elmer C. Clark, in his decision on salaries of bank receivers, yesterday ordered the salary of F. A. McElroy, who is assistant receiver of the C. M. Condon Bank at Oswego, the Farmers and Merchants Bank at Chetopa and the Labette State Bank at Labette cut to $50 a month for each, a total of $150. McElroy also is receiver for banks at Hallowell and McCune, in adjoining counties. He was asked to explain his expense accounts. W. S. Hyatt, attorney for the Bartlett State Bank, had his salary cut to $100 a month. Elmer W. Columbia, attorney, had his salary cut to $100 a month for the Labette State Bank and the Farmers and Merchants State Bank. Columbia filed notice of a motion for a new trial. Judge Clark also advised the state bank commissioner, C. J. Peterson, that he had better put one assistant receiver in charge of the six failed banks of the section because all were within easy access of Oswego, and let him employ clerks for each bank and attorneys when needed.
