The government today filed two suits in federal court in connection with the receivership of the State Bank of Winnebago, in which $41,875 of Winnebago Indian reservation funds was deposited when a receiver was appointed October 24, 1932. The amount was protected by surety bonds. Signers of the surety are sued on a pro-rata basis. The signers and security are John Ashford, 35 thousand dollars; Martin S. Mansfield, 25 thousand dollars; R. J. Norris, 20 thousand dollars; Bert Kilmer, 10 thousand dollars, and E. J. Jensen, 10 thousand dollars. The second action asks that the receiver, E. H. Luikart, be enjoined from collecting judgments held by the bank against 80 acres of land owned by two Indians, Daniel Walker and Lelia Canby Walker, brother and sister.
