STATE NOTES (By Associated Press) DETROIT—In commemoration of a century of peace that has marked the border between the United States and Canada, the first of a series of 65 plaques was in place today on the Ambassador bridge between Detroit and Windsor, Ont. William J. Carrington, of Atlantic City, president of Kiwanis clubs, assisted in dedicating the tablet. LINCOLN—Authorities today were investigating the death of Wayne Pierson, 49, whose body was found Tuesday in the fire charred ruins of his home north of Harrisville. It is believed the fire was caused by the overturning of an oil lamp. PORT AUSTIN—The Port Austin bank was open again today, with 40 percent of its deposits available for the first time since the bank moratorium. Recently the bank had been operated by a conservator. OWOSSO—Victor Parvin, superintendent of the Ann Arbor railway, today was contemplating the addition of more trains to handle a heavy increase of freight out of the northwest. Parvin said the increase would be accentuated when the Ford plants at Minneapolis are re-opened.
