# Anne Arundel Branch National # Farm Loan Association Elects; # Members See Bright Prospects The Jannual meeting of the Anne Arundel County National Farm Loan Association, which is a connection of the Federal Land Bank of Baltimore, took place in Aunapolis yesterday with a large attendance of the membership. The meeting was an especially interesting one, not only in view of the splendid progress made by the local association, but due to the fact that the Supreme Court of the United States has just recently rendered the decision which removes all legal obstacles in the way of full operation of the land banks throughout the country. During the past year their activities have been suspended on account of this case In Court. The annual election of officers resulted as follows: President. Stephen H. Ford, of near Mayo; vice-president. C. Addison Hodges, of near Rutland; secretary-treasurer and attorney. Ridgely P. Melvin. Annapolis. Directors: Stephen H. Ford, Richard F. Simmons, Herman A. Woodfield. Fernando W. Weems. C. Addison Hodges. Montgomery O Selden, Albert S. Hammond and J. Lester Clark. Loan Committce: Richard F Simmons, C Addison Hodges, Herbert A. Keyes. Alternate members of Loan Committee: Herman A Wood-field Charles H. Simmons, Albert S. Hammond. The local association has loaned nearly $100,000 to farmers of Anne Arundel county during the four years of its existence, which amount would have been largely increased during the year 1920 when its operations were entirely suspended by Court proceedings. Applications came in during that period for more loans than in any previous time, as this method of borrowing money has become more popular with the farmers as its benefits have been more thoroughly understood. The prospects for the coming year are reported as especially bright but the Land Banks have announced that it will be several weeks before sufficient funds will be in hand to accommodate the applications already on file. This is on account of the necessity of floating a new issue of Farm Loan bonds. The public will be kept informed when this has been accomplished. The Board of Directors of the Federal Land Bank, of Baltimore, at a meeting held recently declared a six per cent. cumulative dividend on all stock held by the Anne Arundel County Association, along with other associations. This dividend was distributed among the local members, after a deduction to be carried to undivided profits
