March 8.-The First Bank and Trust company of Palm Beach and the Northwood Bank and Trust company of West Palm Beach closed their doors today when the First American Bank and Trust company here failed to open this morning. Band Music Stops Run on Banks at Palm Beach the Associated Press. WEST PALM BEACH. Fla., Mar. steady run on the Farmers Bank and Trust company, which began yesterday with the closing of three banks in West Palm Beach and Palm Beach, ended today when an organized parade marched down the street and band began playing march for de positors to keep step as they into the bank to withdraw their funds. 3 PALM BEACH COUNTY BANKS FAILED TO OPEN Fort Worth, Delray Banks Also Close WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., MarPalm Beach county banks failed to open today while another local financial institution sought to stave off a severe run. The Farmers Bank and Trust company of West Palm Beach, one of the largest banks in this section, did not open following a midnight by T. T. Reese, its president, that the closing of two local banks and a Palm Beach institution last Tuesday had precipitated the action. Simultaneously the First National Bank of Lake Worth and the Ocean City Bank of Delray did not open. No reasons for their separate actions were made public. T. C. Hawkins, state bank examiner, immediately assumed charge of the Delray institution. The closing at Lake Worth left that city without a bank. The Delray bank was capitalized at $25,000. with deposits aggregating $1,699,850 while the Lake Worth bank had a capital of $100.000 and deposits of $2,622,690 both in their last statements published in 1926. P.)-A quieter tone prevailed in the Palm Beaches tonight following period of excitement today when a determined run on the Citizens Bank prompted by the closing of the three Palm Beach county banks abated early in the afternoon leaving only short lines of depositors at the windows. Two of the three banks remaining open here did not experience runs. They observed the regular closing hours. The Citizens Bank, however, announcing that plenty of funds had been obtained to pay every depositor, remained open until six o'clock to meet all requests for payments. An armoured truck arrived from Miami during the day bearing twelve sacks of currency for the Beleauguered Citizens Bank. The banks which did not open for business today included the Farmers Band and Trust Company, one of the largest banking institutions here. which was closed temporarily, it was innounced. in the interest of the deGositors whom the bank's statement clared would not lose a cent as a csult of the closing. The banks which did not open to day included the Farmers Bank and Trust company, one of the largest banking institutions here. The bank was closed temporarily, it was announced, in the interest of depositors. Plans for/reopening the bank within thirty or sixty days were announced. Appointing Receiver For Bank In Court WEST PALM BEACH, Fla Attorneys for the First American Bank and Trust Company here were certain today that the of the bank for the Farmers Bank and Trust Company by State Ernest Amos would upheld by Circuit Judge Elwyn Thomas following from Fort Pierce yesterday that the jurist the filing of motion for the court to cate order appointing Gutelius Attorneys pointed out that the admission the motion by Judge Thomas practically vacates the Gutelius appointment inasmuch as places the burden of proving that the Amos appointment illegal on attorneys for Gutelius. Gutelius contended that the Amos appointment null and void because the comptroller not charge of the bank's affairs prior the appointment. At. torneys for the First American Bank with an opposing attorneys that M Porter, chief examiner for Amos, in charge and had refused hand the bank's affairs Gutelius following the latter's pointment by Thomas. Gutelius was formerly cashier of the Farmers Bank conference between attorneys for both sides now in session was expected to settle the matter.

East Coast Bank Appeals Decision WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., June June 16.-(AP)-The Farmers Bank and Trust Company has appealed to the state supreme court against the decision of Judge Elwyn Thomas, of Fort Peirce, who confirmed the appointment of the First National Bank and Trust Company as receiver for the Farmers Bank. The notice of appeal was filed here this morning after information was received that the controversy over the appointment of receiver would be taken the su. preme court unless a petition for writ of supersedas, to have been filed with Judge Thomas this af ternoon, should prove successful The notice of appeal was filed through E. Harris Drew and Richard P. Robins, attorneys for the Farmers Bank, in circuit court today. The return date was set for August 1.
