RESTRICTED BANKING NEAR END IN STATE

Harrisburg Institution's Opening March 25 to Mark Close

HARRISBURG, March 22β€”With the opening of the Capital Bank and Trust Co. of Harrisburg March 25, restricted bank operation in Pennsylvania will have ended, Luther A. Harr, Secretary of Banking, announced today.

The new bank is a consolidation of two Harrisburg banksβ€”the Commonwealth Trust Co. and the Union Trust Co. of Pennsylvania.

The two banks were the last of the original 51 state institutions which were closed during the banking holiday and allowed to open later on a restricted basis. Deposits will total $2,344,467, capital $300,000, surplus $150,000 and undivided profits $15,000 in the new institution. Depositors will receive a part of their money in cash and the remainder in bank stock.
