A large gathering of representative citizens of the Citizens Campaign committee, met last night at the Town club and received instructions on how to conduct the campaign that is expected to have 75 per cent of the depositors of the Peoples Bank of Hawthorne sign their consent slips. Alfred C. Evans, chairman of the executive committee, presided, and several members of the committee gave their views as to how the campaign should be conducted. It was finally decided that members of the committee should work in pairs wherever feasible and pick out names from the list of depositors who have not as yet signed and canvass them so that the required number may be obtained within the ten days that are allotted to the campaign. A unanimous vote of confidence in the present management of the bank was expressed when put to a vote. Regarding the question of whether the bank would be insured under reorganization, this was said to be imperative, as the bank cannot be opened unless it is insured by the government through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. Fourteen per cent of the total depositors' signatures are required to effect the reorganization it was stated at last night's meeting. Enthusiasm ran high at the meeting and the workers will begin the canvass today with the result that it is confidently expected that the required number will be obtained before the time designated and the bank may be opened that much more quickly.
