DEMAND BANKER BE NAMED AS RECEIVER Depositors of Failed Topeka Trust Co. Object to Politics TOPEKA, Feb. 18.β€”Charles Johnson, state receiver for failed banks, has announced the appointment of W. O. Rigby, former mayor of Topeka, as receiver for the International Mortgage Trust company, which closed its doors Monday. Ralph T. O'Neil was named as attorney for the receiver, according to the Capital. Within two hours after Rigby had announced his appointment to the board of Shawnee county commissioners, action was started by the board and other depositors in the closed institution to have another receiver appointed. A petition addressed to H. W. Koeneke, state bank commissioner, urging the appointment of E. S. Gresser, former president of the Citizens' State bank, as receiver was signed by Tom Boyd, state treasurer; Victor King, state vehicle commissioner; J. A. Eddy, county treasurer; Ira Williams, John Sutherin and W. C. Noller, county commissioners and several other depositors. The petition points out that its signers represent more than 50 per cent of all claims against the company. If the bank commissioner refuses to change receivers the petitioners will file mandamus suit to compel him to do so.
