Scranton Earl C. Wever was seriously injured Friday afternoon while cranking a gas engine. The crank came loose and struck him in the forehead. cutting a gash to the bone. He was taken at once to his physician for medical aid. Superintendent and Mrs. C. C. Anama will spend their Christmas and New Years vacation at their homes at Woolstock and Rock Valley. Ta. They will also spend a few days in Waterloo, Ia. Walter B. Kramme, principal of high school here. will spend the holidays with friends in Des Moines. Harold Frese left Friday evening to spend the Christmas vacation with his sister and aunt at Belle Plaine. He is science and physics teacher here. Coach Faber of Scranion high went to Davenport for the holidays and will visit relatives and friends in southeastern Iowa. Manager Ung gave a free picture show to all the grade and high school boys and girls Friday afternoon. Each one of the pupils received a sack of candy from the Scranton Commercial club. Dr. Donavan of here purchased the Farmers State bank building Friday from the bank receiver for $2,500. Dr. P. W. Herrick and Dr. J. W. Presnell have their offices in the building. Harold Christensen entertained at his home Saturday evening as a farewell party honoring his brother. Romaine, who was leaving for southern California.
