HEAVY RUN ON BANK SUBSIDES No Warning of Withdrawals In Des Moines Bank.
Des Moines, Iowa. Dec. 31.-A threeday run on the Bankers Trust company bank of Des Moines, one of the largest banking institutions in the city, had apparently subsided Thursday. An hour after the opening of the bank only the usual number of customers were transacting business, Withdrawals started at the bank almost without warning Monday mornIng. Only light run was made Tuesday. but Wednesday long lines again formed at the windows The bank, capitalized at $1,000,000 and carrying deposits of approximately $4,670,910 holds the thrift savings of the school children of Des Moines. State funds totaling $200,000 are also deposited there.
ENCOURAGE DEBATING. Lincoln, Dec. 31.-The Nebraska Bar Association Thursday adopted resolutions urging closer association with the Nebraska high school debating league as means of educating the public to a keener appreciation of the liberties and privileges of the constitution. Members of the bar associa tion hereafter will serve as judges of high school debates without charge and the association will offer a. $25 silver trophy to the state debate winner.
