SUPREME COURT IN SPECIAL TERM Two-Day Session Is Called to Hear Petitions and Writ Requests The state supreme court opened a two-day special term Tuesday to pass upon applications for writs and petitions for rehearings. The court will be session Wednesday to hear arguments on two applicat for mandamuses compel R. Charter. Jr., state banking commissioner, and receivers for the closed Bank of Weston and the closed Bank of Fayette to recognize certain claims as preferred claims. One of the petitions was filed by H. Puffenbarger, guardian for Andrew E. Puffenbarger, Jr., an infant, ho set out that $862.01 paid Puffenbarger by the United States government as compensation for the death of Andrew's father, while in the army, had been deposited in the bank prior its closing. Although the money belongs to the government, the petition sets out, until it is paid to the beneficiary, the banking commission. and refuse to recognize the claim as preferred one. The other petition. similar case, was filed by Willie Clifton Tompkins. of Fayetteville. guardian for Willie Clendenin, against Mr. Charter and E. L. Marrison, receiver for the Bank of petition also was filed with the court for review the Wayne court action of Logan Spencer against the Camden Fire Insurance association. petitioner. in which the lower court had awarded $600 in suit to collect on fire policy The court began its deliberations on the pending petitions for writs and rehearings immediately after leaving the bench.
