about TOWN. Thanksgiving day. An uggly, windy day this has been. Robt. Stillman returned from the ranch last evening. Two recruits for Fort Brown arrived on the stage last night. The Alice mail stage passed El Sauz at 9:15 this morning; no passengers. The postoffice, First National bank and custombouse suspended business today. E. Ganucheau, representing a New Orleans hardware house, arriv ed on the stage last night. A marriage license was issued today by county clerk Webb to Ysidoro Webber and Miss Rosa Trevino. The steamship Clinton sailed from Galveston at 2 p. m., last evening and will be off the bar sometime tonight. T. G. Jones returned last night from a brief visit to the Stillman ranch, where he went to look at cattle. A little child of Mr. and Mrs Justo Garcia, aged nine months, died this morning at their home in this city. It will be buried tomorrow morning at nine. Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Stillman arrived from their ranch last evenIng to visit relatives in Brownsville. Mr. Stillman is one of the solid ranch owners of this county, and has great faith in the future of the lower Rio Grande. The usual Thanksgiving services were held at the Episcopal church this morning by Rev. J. Portmess. The services were well attended.
