Summit six Independent:-About years ago, thru the separation of her parents, a bright little girl stood a chance of being thrown out upon a not too friendly world. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Nelson of Blooming Valley township being somewhat related to the child heard of the case and took theh child into their comfortable home For six years they have reared her as their own and every comfoit has been given her. She learned to love her foster parents, and in fact remembered no other. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson became greatly attached in Alice and they had no other thought than to give her every opportunity and regard her as their daughter. Some time age the mother remarried and recently she laid claim to her Evidence brot before the court at Milbank, Monday, developed that the mother and her new husband were not in any too good circumstances and it is doubtfu! whether they can support the child properly, in fact a sister of the mother intimated in her testimony that Alice would be better off with her parents. Of course Alice herself clings to Mr. and Mrs. Nelson and will be heart broken if she is taken away. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Nelson returned from Milbank Wednesday evening and they report that both sides in the case agreed to a stay for two weeks. / John Ecklund, who formerly lived northeast of Summit, but went to Oregon last year, has gone into the real estate business at Silverton, Oregon, with a man named Larson. We have received a booklet from them. about Marion county, Oregon, which pictures a very desirable section of the country. Ole Lund, and O. K. Quale are at Silverton and they seem to like it.Summit Independent. S. W. Matteson has been appointed as receiver for the Marvin State bank and has been taking affidavits the last few days for payment to depositors. Wm. VanDorp, who moved from here to Maple Lake, Minn., a couple of years ago, arrived in Marvin Saturday and is visiting the homes of Walter and Frank Baard. Wm. says he likes it fine in his new location, "But then Wm. is one of those kind who likes the country which he lives in." He liked it here too.-Marvin Monitor. Miss Hulda Fenner of Mankato, Minn.s who has been visiting at the Wm. Steinlicht home, departed for Milbank Monday morning.-Waubay Clipper.
