PROBE RUMORS THAT LED TO BANK RUN CHICAGO, April 11.-Investigation of rumors which caused a run on the Garfield Park State Savings bank was started today. The run began about closing time yesterday and as soon as officials of the bank realized the situation they arranged to keep open until all claimants were satisfied. When the doors were closed last night 500 accounts had been closed and $200,000 withdrawn. Twice the money van of the Continental and Commercial National bank, reserve agent for the Garfield park, had delivered trunks of currency, while business men of the district continued to pour in their deposits of checks and currency. In view of this many persons fell out of the long line of alarmed depositors. The bank is considered one of the strongest of the city's outlying institutions and exceptional efforts were said to be under way to trace to their source the rumors which caused the run.
