Of General Interest. The Great Northern has ordered 50 steel ore cars of 100,000 pounds capacity, similar to the ones now in use on the Short Line, from the pressed Steel Car company, and 200 ore cars from the Haskel Car Company, and is preparing to build 100 steel cars at its own shops. The United States court of cliams rendered a decision on the cliam of Admiral Dewey for prize money on account of the destruction of the Spanish fleet in Manila harbor. The court decided against the admiral's contention that the onemy's force was superior to his and awarded him $9,705. A Towanda, (Pa.) bank employed ingenious means to stop a recent run on the institutior. While several hundred depositors were in line to withdraw their money three barrels of silver dollars were unloaded in front of the building and carried in by the basketful. The sight of $75,000 being dumped into the bank in this wholesale manner had a reassuring effect and the run ceased. Acting Gov. A. E. Spriggs has granted diminutions to the following convicts on the recommendation of the prison contractors at Deer Lodge, all of whom will be discharged March 12: Thirty days to A. E. Bunkhard, convicted in Choteau county of forgery; 18 days to William Boyd, convicted in Flathead county of larceny and sent up two years; 30 days to Frank Howard, convicted in Choteau county of forgery and sentenced to one year, to be discharged March 12.
