MASONIC HOME FUND. The Masonic Home fund that should be in the hands of the Grand Treasurer, according to my estimate. should be the sum of $4,428.37 with any additional collections that may have been made on account of inter'st by the Grand Trcasurer, which 10 not appear in the items following. This sum of $4,438.37 is made up of the following items: Cash on hand as shown by report of Trustees in Pro$ 770.50 55 eeedings for 1901, 250.00 One loan outstanding as per said report, 753.40 Paid to Grand Treasurer by Grand Secretary, 1902, 1,421.00 Paid to Grand Treasurer by Grand Secretary, 1903, 527.16 Paid to Grand Treasurer by Grand Secretary. 1904, Interest collected by Grand Treasure: as shown by re350.00 port of Trustees for 1963. Procee Hngs page 82, Interest collected by Grand Treasurer as shown by re356.24 port of Trustees for 1504, Proceedings page 65, $4,428 27 Total charged Grand Treasure" Deducting from this balance the amount of the securities turned over to me in the I-Um of $2,400.00 and R deficiency appears of $1,028.37, and for which no funds or securities have been turned over to me by the Grand Treasurer. In this con nection the Grand Treasurer states that the sum of $1,000.00 was loaned by him to Eldorado Lodge No. 73, for which a note was given payable to "II H. Watkins": that in some manner unknown to the Grand Treasurer this note became displaced from a box containing the securities of the Home fund and in scine manner unexplainable at this time by the Grand Treasurer. found its way to a bank in Kansas City among other notes placed in said bank as collateral security for on indebtedness due from the Ckizens Bank, or from Mr. Watkins personally, as Joes not vet appear: that the Kangas City bank is now endeavoring to force payment of this note from the maker thereof-Elcorado Ledge No 73. THE PROTESTED CHECK. I find from an interview with the Receiver of the Citizens Bank that the check for $1,205.00 drawn by the Grand Secretary upon the First National Bank of Stillwater, to the order of "H. H. Watkins, Grand Treasurer," and mailed to the latter officer, was placed to the credit of such officer by the Citizens Pank on the 16th day of April, 1904, and was charged back ON the 18th of April, 1904. by that bank, payment of the check having been stopped by the Grand Secretary before presentation to the bank on which it was drawn that this check when received by the Citizens Bank was forwarded for collection credit in the usual way to the National Bank of Commerce a' Wichita. which latter bank entered it as a collection credit to the account of the Citizens Bank on the 18th of April, 1004. and charged the said check back on the 26th of the same month If this check was likewise sent for credit collection by the Pank AL Wichita to the Bank at Kansas City, and the latter bank after entering the check for credit, afterwards charged the same back to the Wichita bank upon learning that payment of the check had been stopped. it may be seriously questioned whether the Wichita Bank has now any valid right of action against the Citizens Bank, the Grand Lodge, the Grand Secretary. or the First National Bank of Stillwater. The Judge of the District Court at Enid has recently passed an order requiring the erelitors of the Citizens Bank to present proof of their claim to the Receiver within thirty days from date of the order and for that purpo I enclose you herewith blank proof of claim properly filled out ready for your signature I am advised by the Receiver that a dividena will probably be paid at the end of the thirty days. but I could get LO opinion of what the dividend would probably be : am engaged in further investigation of these matters, and of which I will make supplemental report when ! have the desired information on hand. My actual expenses to Enid and return amounted to the sum of $11 56. which the Grand Secretary has paid from the contingent expense account of his office. Dated and fraternally submitted this 20th day of July, 1901 F c. HUNT, Commissioner Appointed.
