DEPOSITORS CAUSE BIG RUN ON BANK MANY MEN WITH MONEY TO PUT IN SAFE KEEPING STARTS A PANIC. MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 17.-A local clearing house committee and a deputy public examiner today issued a statement declaring that the run on the Farmers' and Mechanics' Savings bank was without reason. The run, which has been developing for several days came to a climax today when at noon hour fully 1,000 depositors were in line. Altogether the bank has 24,000 depositors while its deposits total about $7,000,000. It is believed the run resulted from the line of people last week who wished to deposit their savings at the beginning of a new interest period. The only explanation is that the presence of the crowd was misconstrued by people of gossiping proclivities.
