Description

Articles (dated June 25-26, 1885) report that the assignment of O. M. Bogart & Co., bankers and brokers, who 'failed for nearly two million dollars,' was set aside by Judge Donahue and a receiver was directed to be appointed. No explicit mention of a depositor run or a temporary suspension prior to closure; firm is described as failed and placed into receivership. I infer bank is a private banking/brokerage partnership.

Bogart's Alleged Fraud. NEW YORK, June 20.-Iselin, Neeser & Co. brought an action some time ago to have set aside the assignment of O. M. Bogart & Co., bankers and brokers, who failed for nearly two million dollars. The plaintiffs claimed that the assignment was fraudulent and void, alleging that the members of the firm drew large sums to pay their individual debts regardless of the firm's creditors. Judge Donahue to-day decided to set the assignment aside and directed that a receiver should be appointed, to whom the assignee should turn over all the moneys received by him to pay the judgments of attaching creditors
