CRITICISES RECEIVERS' METHODS. As counsel for the receivers of the Mercantile Cooperative Bank Mr. Kisselberg, of Kisselberg & Bennett. asked Justice Marean yesterday for an order directing the payment of a small sum. The Justice remarked that there were too many orders of that character for the payment of two-penny claims. It looked as though the object was to get costs. If the conduct of an estate required the payment of moderate sums for various purposes, a proper course was to apply to the Court for leave to make a deposit out of which to pay small sums. The Court should not be required to authorize a payment of $15 as the foundation for a counsel fee of $50. It was absurd, said the Justice, to make the clearing up of the accounts of an estate cost as much as possible. Decision was reserved.
