CAUGHT GUDGEONS IN BALTIMORE. Baltimore, Jan. 12 (Special).-A number of well known Baltimore business men and lawyers have been caught in the "get rich quick" mining scheme promoted by R. C. Flower. Major Fechet. mining expert, of Washington, reported that there was a large and valuable crevice in the Lone Pine Mine. and some thirty Baltimore stockholders have in the aggregate $75,000 in it. Henry F. New, vicepresident of the Union Trust Company, is now president of the company, but Mr. New says that his connection with the enterprise is solely due to his desire to protect Baltimore shareholders. Flower was also known as the New-York promoter of the Atlantic Trust Company. of this city, now in the hands of receivers. He improved his Baltimore connections to the extent of doing Arizona mining business when Atlantic Trust was dull, 80 that he never lost anything by coming to Baltimore. Mr. New 'announces that he took the office of president with the purpose of sending some one to the penitentiary. He says he has put sufficient pressure upon certain parties to cause them to disgorge a million shares or so of stock, which will be added to those in the treasury to revive the company.
