Funeral Party Finds Grave Dug In Wrong Lot-A special from Marysville, Kas., says that the body of Chris Weiche, 81, who died Monday, came near being burried Wednesday in another man's lot. As a result, the funeral had to be postponed until Thursday. It was not until the funeral party arrived at the cemetery that relatives discovered that the grave had been dug in the wrong lot. A conference between the undertaker and the city clerk revealed that an error made when the city took over the cemetery a few years ago was responsible. Funeral at servIces for Joseph Vrbsky, 69, who died, Wednesday at a Lincoln hospital were held Friday afternoon at the Sokol hall at Crete, with Rev. K. O. Zavadil of Wilber officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill, Mr. Vrbsky was born in Czechoslovakia, coming to America in 1878. He had resided in Nebraska for 54 years. Dental Society-The Gage County Dental society held their regular meeting Tuesday at the Hotel Paddock. After dinner they listened to lecture by Dr. Bauer of the state university dental college. His subject was child dentistry, and his lecture, illustrated by lantern slides and models, was highly instructive. He was accompanied by Drs. Pederson and Karlson of Lincoln. Dr. H. H. Kirschner was elected president of the dental society and Dr. D. D. Lock, secretary-treasurer. The committee in charge of the program was Dr. C. A. Spellman and Dr. J. G. Krim. Sell Confiscated Car-The automobile of George Zimmerman, which was confiscated as liquor vehicle when the raids were made here several weeks ago, was put up and sold at auction yesterday. The car brought $10 on the only bid offered, that of the former owner. -Postmaster Adam McMullen. who has been laid up at his home the past few days with an attack of the influenza, was able to be down town yesterday. -The fire department was called to the Arcade building yesterday morning about 9 o'clock where some excelsior in a box had caught fire in some way. The fire was extinguished before the arrival of the department. Mrs. William Paisley of Wymore is recovering from an operation which she recently underwent at a Beatrice hospital, number of towns in the state have established wood piles where hungry men can work for meals. Work Progressing on New Bridge Across Blue at Marysville- Thirty-five men were making the dirt fly at the Blue river bridge site just west of town Wednesday afternoon and it was believed that the number would be increased to seventy before the close of anothor week, says the Marysville Advocate-Democrat. The excavation is being made for pier No 4, which will stand at the east end of the structure. It will be seated on the solid stone foundation which will be reached at a depth of forty-five feet. This pier will be thirty-five feet north and south and sixteen feet east and west. call for four piers and two abutments. Curiously enough, they are being built right out in a corn field, fully 1,500 feet west of the river Later on, under a contract to be let by the state highway commission within a short time, an excavation will be dug for a new river channel. E. C. Webber, Marshall county chairman of the Federal Relief committee, has submitted a list of 350 men whose applications for places on the unemployed list have been approved. Thus far all of the workmen have been selected from this list and the others will be also. Richard Dunn. superintendent for the Koss Construction company, the contractor, said Wednesday pouring of concrete should be started within eight or ten days. Meanwhile the city of Marysville in cooperation with the Federal Relief committee is furnishing work for ninety men who otherwise would be in the army of the unemployed. Half of the men are working at the gravel pit in the north part of town and the others are on the North Eighth street project. Other men are being provided with work at Waterville, Blue Rapids and Frankfort, according to Chairman Webber. Crete Firemen Elect OfficersElmer Ramsey was chosen president of the fire department at the annual election. Other officers are Howard Burrus, vice president; Frank Prasek, secretary; Frank Kobes, treasurer: Otto Feeken, chief; Sam Best. assistant chief; Joe Mahacek, foreman of hose company no. 1; Karl Nedela, assistant foreman: Tom Yant, foreman of hose company no. 2: Ed.
