Description

Articles (AP) report the Merchants & Farmers Bank of Starkville 'closed several months ago' and 'reopened today' (April 11, 1931). No run or depositor agitation is described. The suspension is placed in context of a wave of suspensions last year, so I classify the cause as macro_news (systemic banking troubles). 'State' bank chosen from naming convention (Merchants & Farmers) though charter type is not explicitly stated.
