# JURY UNABLE TO # REACH VERDICT Still Deliberating on Pedfergonia Case-Mr. and Mrs. Kurki Plead Guilty Unable to reach an agreement, the jury which heard the evidence in the case of the state vs. Jack Pedfergonia, charged with engaging in the liquor traffic, was still out at press time this afternoon, having been in deliberation for more than 24 hours. The case went to the jury early yesterday afternoon and the jurors remained in session all night. Mr. and Mrs. John Kurki, charged with keeping and maintaining a common nuisance, second offense, withdrew their plea of not guilty yesterday afternoon after part of the evidence had been taken and, with the permission of the court and the state's attorney, pleaded to guilty to keeping and maintaining a common nuisance, first offense. They will be sentenced Tuesday morning at 9:30, along with several others who have pleaded guilty or been convicted during the present court term. # Next Week's Calendar No other cases being ready for trial today, the jurors were excused until 9:30 a. m., Tuesday, when trial of civil cases will get under way. Cases have been tentatively set for trial in the following order: L. R. Beird as receiver of Farmers Bank of Golden Valley vs. Des Moines Life & Annuity company. J. O. Henricks and A. M. Landgren, Bismarck Tire and Auto company, vs. J. I. Roop, H. W. Voight and L. E. Malard. R. F. Jager vs. Woodrich Construction company. R. H. G. Whatley vs. Hartford Accident and Indemnity company. # LIQUOR LAW # VIOLATORS # SENTENCED Mrs. Robidou and William Miller Each Given One Year in Penitentiary Mrs. Flora Robidou and William Miller were each sentenced to one year in the state penitentiary this morning by Judge J. A. Coffey in Burleigh county district court. They had been convicted during the present term of court of engaging in the liquor traffic, and the violations were second offenses for both. Others convicted or who pleaded guilty to liquor law violations during this term were sentenced this morning as follows: Charles Meyer, four months in jail, fine of $200 and costs; Oliver Vold, six months in jail, fine of $200 and costs; Mr. and Mrs. John Kurki, one year in jail and fines of $200 and costs, each. The judge specified that Mr. Kurki would remain in jail from the present time until April, after which he is to be released and Mrs. Kurki is to begin her sentence. The case of L. R. Baird as receiver of the Farmers Bank of Golden Valley vs. Des Moines Life and Annuity company, a civil action, is being tried today.
