Es.Collector Austin's Fauctul SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12.-The funeral of Sandy Austin this morning, though intended to be strictly private, was attended by several hundred friends and a large num. ber of carriages followed the remains to Lone Mountain. The services were held at the Occidental Hotel at 1 P. M., and the pariors were crowded. Services were conducted by Rev.M Scott who made some eloquent remarks In memory of the deceased. A delegation of Pioneers and all the members of the Stock Board were present. The Fresca Bank - Youthfus Depravidy SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 12.-The money withdrawn by depositors from the French Savings and Loan The Society is nearly $200,000. bank limits deposits to $5,000, that the number of depositora large. Recently it was $2,000, but it was changed to $5,000 at the request of the majority of the deposb itors. The bank has an ample reserve of coin and promises to pay e depositors as fast as circumstances t will permit. Patrick, Chairman of the Exerd utive Committee of the Citizens' a Association, makes the annexed approximate estimate of the amounts sent from San Francisco to the Southern sufferers: Cliia zens' Committee, $20,000; Wells, S Fargo & Co., $12,000; St. John's Episcopal Church, $1200; F. A. Haber and Elkan Cohn, $2400; C. C. Clay, $600; Masonic Lodges, n $2000; Odd Fellows, $2000; telee graph operators, $500; Mrs. Gwin, $1200; Produce Exchange, $1000; y Churches and Societies other than Masonie and Old Fellows, $3000. y Total, $45 000 The foregoing ind cludes $5000 sent to-day. Of this amount $35,000 should be credited y to San Francisco and the rest to n other towus. When the returns e. are made from the various benefit entertainments and the amounts 7, collected from the schools are cred a ited to the fund, San Francisco's h contribution will not fall short of r, $45,000 and may reach $50,000. The Oskined Fair. 9 FAIR GROUNDS, OAKLAND, Sept. 9 12th -The crowd ou the ground exceeds that of any other day. Shearer, the telegraphic operator who disappeared on Tuesday 1 night, leaving his clothing and letters for his wife, mother and children on the wharf, was found y about midnight last night in his e office. He was attired In an una dershirt, drawers and an old shawl, y none of which belonged to him. After being discovered he broke away, climbed several feuces and t was finally captured in an oute house.
