Bevier Bank Closed By Directors Today MACON, Feb. 25. The State Bank of Bevier was closed today by order of its board of directors. The closing was reported due to "frozen assets' and slow collections. An effort will be made to reorganize the bank. which was organized in 1892. The state commissioner of finance was notified of the closing. It will be impossible to determine the exact condition of the bank until after an investigation is made of the assets. Hughes, vice-president of the Commerce Trust Company of Kansas City, former commissioner of finance. had been here for several days in an effort to adjust the affairs of the bank. He took interest in the bank since he started working in it as boy, eventually becoming its president. There was run the bank, and the closing caused no excitement. F. Richards, of Bevier was president of the bank and A. Rowland was cashier. The last financial statement showed deposits of $208,000 and loans of $167,000.
