Description

Articles (dated 1933-03-11 and 1933-03-12) report that Metals Bank & Trust Co. of Butte, an affiliate of First Bank Stock Corporation, applied for permission to reopen following the Ninth Federal Reserve's notice. This is part of the national/state bank holiday in early March 1933; there is no mention of a depositor run on this specific bank. Suspension is due to government-ordered bank holiday; reopening applications filed 1933-03-11/12. I use 1933-03-06 as the start of the suspension (national bank holiday declared then) and 1933-03-11 as the reopening application date โ€” the articles explicitly state the bank applied to reopen on March 11.
