Dr. Crowe Made Defendant Dr. G. B. Crowe was made defendant in a suit filed yesterday in the circuit court by J. B. Cobb, receiver of the Union Bank and Trust company, to recover possession of $5000 alleged to be due to the bankrupt company by virtue of a promissory note indorsed by Dr. G. B. Crowe and made out by C. C. Huckabee. The note was made, it is alleg(ed, on December 1, 1909, and was not paid at maturity.

DAY'S RECORD IN COUNTY COURTS Judge Horace C. Wilkinson, who is presiding in the first division of the common pleas court during the absence of Judge I. H. Benner, was occupied with a number of criminal and civil cases yesterday which he disposed of in a most expeditious manner. The majority of cases tried were on the civil docket. Jennie Bush, charged with assault with intent to murder, was found guilty and bound over to the grand jury on a $500 bond. Fannie Bentley, charged with assault with intent to murder, was bound over on $500, while John Beasley was bound over to the grand jury on $200. Lee Wallace, charged with grand larceny for the theft of certain goods from a freight car, was bound over on $500. In the second division of the common pleas court Judge Abernethy held a preliminary trial in the case of Green Goodwin, charged with assault with intent to murder, and dismissed the case, while the prisoner was held on another charge of carrying concealed weapons. The case of Mary Hill, charged with assault with intent to murder, was passed until next Wednesday, as was likewise the case against Ed Ellis, charged with the same offense Elias Zambeles filed suit for $2000 damages yesterday in the circuit court against H. M. Newsome, Robert E. Murphy and the East Lake Park Amusement company for alleged assault and battery committed by the said Robert Murphy at the instigation of the other defendants to the suit. It is claimed by the plaintiff that he was beaten over the head with an umbrella and besides being lascerated and bruised about the face was otherwise injured and humiliated. Suit for $1000 damages was filed In the circuit court by Mrs. Maggie Rivers against the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad company for alleged personal injuries received by the plaintiff while she was alighting from a train at Adamsville in consequence of a jerk of the train. Suit for $200 damages was filed against the Alabama Great Southern Railroad company for the alleged loss of a horse which was struck by a train. Joseph O. Thompson and H. B. Steagall filed suit for $1000 damages in the city court against E. W. Rounds, Mrs. E. J. Kates, Miss Mattie Kates and Mrs. C. B. Rounds, doing business under the name of the Kates Transfer and Warehouse company, for the alleged occupancy of certain property in the possession of the plaintiff. John McLeod and Roderick McLeod, doing business under the name of R. M. McLeod & Son, filed suit for $5000 damages yesterday in the city court against Toney Mass, Henry B. Gray, William Bennett and Morgan Slaughter for alleged conspiracy among the defendants to intimidate and otherpise prevent four workmen of the plaintiff's, namely, Charlie Little, George Prosser, Dave Reynolds and Philip McLaurin, from their duties on a certain plastering job in the pump room of one H. Koppers at Woodward. The allaged conspiracy is said to have been formed and executed May 15 from which time for five continuous days the plaintiff's workmen were hindered from their work, Seeking to recover the sum of $5000. which is alleged to be due on a deposit certificate, J. B. Cobbs, as receiver of the Union Bank and Turst company, filed suit against G. B. Crowe in the circuit court.
