DIRECTORS CLOSE BANK AT ONTARIO Ontario Or., Feb. The Ontario National bank, the oldest national bank in Southeastern Oregon, did not open its doors today. notice on the bank door said the bank was closed on order of the board of directors. Earl Blackaby, cashier, said deposits at time of "closing about $475,000 and that assets cover liabilities. The closing, he said, was to the gradual sinking of deposits since R. Blackaby, business man of Malheur president of the for the sale of the institution, his said, and believed that could be saved, but the prospective buyer declared the deal off Tuesday night. This, with the cash low compelled closing, he said. The attitude of the public Ontario noted today was one of confidence. This manifested in the immediate opening of accounts with the First National bank of Ontario which, before the opening hour at o'clock, had arranged for sufficient cash pay every demand deposit called on to do so. No run developed
