FIRST BANK STOCK GROUP APPLIES FOR PERMIT MINNEAPOLIS, MINN., March 11. ninth district federal reserve bank Friday forwarded information to all member banks in the district that they might make application for reopening The message did not say when the banks might reopen. The First Bank Stock corporation. with 100 banks in its group, operating in Minnesota, upper Michigan, Montana, North and South Dakota. immediately applied for permission to reopen, P J. Leeman, vice and general manager of the corporation, said. The Northwest Bancorporation with 126 banks in eight state, asked permission to reopen all its institutions, J. C. Thomson, vice president and general manager, announced. Thomson said applications for reopening had been sent to the federal banks in the four districts in whiche they operate. The corporation has affiliates in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska. North Dakota. South Dakota, Montana and Washington. Gov. W. B. Geery of the Ninth district bank said he would not be able to announce what banks would reopen until all applications had been received. The Ninth district embraces Minnesota, the Dakotas, Montana, Northern Michigan and Northern The Metals Bank and Trust company of Butte an affiliate of the First Bank Stock corporation.
