IDAHO NOTES. The regents of the University of Idaho have authorized the expenditure of $3000 for new scientific and educational books, making this library one of the strongest, up-to-date libraries in the west. William Buckley reports that he has finished inspecting over 26,000 fruit trees near Sandpoint, Idaho, which are ready for planting He states that the majority of the trees were from eastern nurseries because the local ones can not meet the demand. There will be over 60,000 fruit trees set out this fall near Coeur d'Alene. H. L. Canfield of the state government fishery department was in Sandpoint recently distributing fry in Pend 'Oreille lake and the streams thereabouts. Because of the absence of Frank Vincent. one of the board of arbiters appointed to appraise the land in litigation for a right of way for the Nez Perce & Idaho Electric railroad, the work of grading the line has been temporarily suspended. Ed Anderson has been appointed to the vacaney created by the departure of Vincent, so that no further delays will occur when they meet this week. The University of Idaho, following the lead of the eastern universities, will grant certificates to students completing the sophomΓ³re year's work. This marks the division line between college and university studies. The next annual meeting and exhibit of the Inland Empire Registered Stockbreeders' association will be held in Moscow, Idaho, in December, 1909. Jennie Girard, a woman who passed as Mrs. Vaucamp, was also held to the federal court, her bond being fixed at $1000. The University of Idaho debaters will meet Washington State college December 4 in the fifth annual intercollegiate debate. The question will be the guarantee of national bank deposits. At Council Louis Annis stabbed George Grove in a number of places, causing serious wounds. The stabbing was the result of a fight.

All Idaho of Banks Closed The proclamation of President Roosevelt automatically closed the doors of every banking institution in Idaho. The news was received in Boise first by The Statesman about o'clock. Earlier in the day the twelfth district federal reserve bank sued an order calling holiday Monday for all members of the federal system in Idaho and other western states. The First National Bank of Idaho in Boise and the eight banks formerly with to observe the holiday, according an official were all other member banks in the state.
