BANK MERGER In another column is reprinted the resolution adopted by the Mullan Chamber of Commerce in reference to the recent transfer of the business of the First National bank of Mullan to the Wallace Bank & Trust company. In these days of social, commercial and financial distress it is noteworthy that only one bank in the Coeur Alene district has felt obliged to retire from business in the interest of its depositors. That this action in nowise reflects upon the officers, directors or stockholders of the retiring bank is testified to by the resolution. It is a most gratifying and unusual situation and reflects great credit upon the fairness of the people of Mullan as well as upon the retiring bank personnel. It is also noteworthy that one of the strong local banks was able to absorb without strain the business of the retiring bank, thereby preventing a tie-up of the funds of depositors with consequent annoyance and expense.
