Telegraphic Despatches. ST. LOUIS, Nov. 9.-The Santa Fe mail of the 11th inst. bas arrived. A fight had occurred between a detachment of United States troops under Capt. Hatch and 8 band of Navajo Indians, in which Larges, the principal chief of that nation and six other Indians were killed. Col. Sbiled would leave about the 28h, with his entire command, for Chusea and Tunics, where it was thought the Indians would make a stand.Heretofore they have retired before the advance of the troops. They are now driving stock for the westward into the mountains. It is possible that the employment of volunteers will still be urgently recommended. ST. LOUIS, Nov. 8.-The party who arrived at Leavenworth with the Utab mail, report encountering heavy snow storms at Deer Creek. The roads were almost impassable, and the mail was packed on mules from the Big Blue-that stream being too high to be forded. The rain storms have prevailed throughout that section for the past two weeks, extending 85 miles west of Fort Kearney. NEW HAVEN, Conn., November 8.-The large daguerreotype case factory of Newell C. Hall, in Park street, this city, took fire this evening and was destroyed. Part of the stock was saved. Over one hundred persons are thrown out of employment in consequence of the fire. Loss about $15,000insured. NEWARK, N. J., Nov. 8.-James MeMahon is now on trial here for the murder of his sister, Ann McMahon, in September last. The case creates considerable interest. The prisoner's counsel made a motion to quash the indictment, and pending the argument on the motion the court adjourned. NEW HAVEN, Conn., Nov. 9.-The Douglas men of this eity are in high glee at the result of the Illinois election. They fired thirty-two guns this evening, and have called 1 meeting, to be held on Friday evening to be addressed by Mr. MeMasters and the Hon. Horace F. Clark, of New York. Philadelphia, Nov. 9.--Mr. Ryan, the people's candidate in the first Congressional district, served to-day the legal notice on Cul. Florence, contesting his right to a seat in the next Congress. Mr. Ryan claims 450 majority. PURTLAND, November 8.-A cattle train on the Grand Trunk Railroad, ran off the track to-day, near Gloucester, killing Mr. Hazleton, the engineer, and slaughtering & large number of cattle. BOSTON, Nov. 9-Josiah Quincey, Sr., was accidentally run over yesterday in Tremont st., and injured, but not dangerously, as at first reported. NEW ORLEANS, Nov. There were 12 deaths from yellow fever yesterday. There was a good frost this morning. SAVANNAH, Nov. S.-There have been 48 interments within the last six hours, including five deaths :rom fever. CHARLESTON, Nov. 8.-The deaths from yellow fever during the past week havebeen 12. NEW York, Nov. 9 -The brokers here refuse the notes of the Atlantic Bank of Portland, Maine. CHICAGO, Nov. 9.-The News of this city announces the certain and complete success of the friends Douglas in the Legislature of Illinois, and adds that the administration failed to elect any of their candidates.
