Sunny Slope Wins Rural Basketball Tournament The rural schools of Osage county held their second annual basketball tournament at Wynona on Friday, March 10. Girls teams entered were: Herd, Union. Enterprise, Sunny Slope, Pershing. The final game was played between Herd and Enterprise, with Herd winning 18 to 7. The boys teams entered were: Pershing, Phillipsburg, belford, Sunny Slope, Anderson, Union, Enterprise. The final boys' game was between Sunny Slope and Pershing with Sunny Slope being victorious by a score of 21 to 14. The all-tournament team was selected by the officials: Goins, Sunny Slope, center Buffington, Sunny Slope, forward. Little, Pershing, forward. Neighbors, Pershing, guard. W. Bernard, Sunny Slope, guard. Through the aid of Supt. Johnson of Wynona high school and the student body, trophies were given to the winning teams. Approximately 200 school children and as many patrons and teachers were guests of Wynona school and community. The use of the gymnasium, the officials, the score book and trophies were all furnished gratis by the Wynona high school. The Exchange Bank of Skiatook opened Wednesday morning on a 100 per cent basis, in other words, doing a regular business, paying old accounts, new accounts, accepting deposits and transacting business as usuel. This was expected, a we believe the Exchange Bank of Skiatook to be one of the strongest small banks in the State of Oklahoma, and the action of the state bank commission in opening this institution without restrictions of any nature is an official endorsement of the management and the bank. Vice President Frank Cochran of the Exchange Bank, expressed his thanks and appreciation to the public for the manner in which the bank holdiday was received. He stated the depositors as a whole, expressed every confidence in the bank and offered their services in any way to lighten the labors of the bank officials. News of the opening of the bank was received here with great cheer, although there had not been a doubt in the minds of the patrons as to Its condition. Business early Wednesday morning took on, new life, people were feeling elated over future prospects and buying of needed commodities spurted at an early hour. All classes of business houses stated customers were in better humor, praising the action of President Soosevelt for his courageous action. and expressing the opinion the depression was definitely on the way out, and that all would benefit from the new regulations. Depositors filled the Exchange Bank all day Wednesday in good humor, attending to the accumulated business o. the previous two weeks. and almost without exception every person deposited funds in the bank. According to bank officials not one account was withdrawn, and several new accounts were opened The deposits exceeded the withdrawals by thousands of Collars, and the bank management and employes worked far in the n.ght to balance un the heavy run of business. Such remargable good cheer and confidence as expressed by the public la our bank speaks well tor the futare of Skiatook, that with the COtook. Skiat and community may feel proud of the Exchange Bank of Skiatook and can place every confidence in the institution. for it has come through the trying odeal with flying colors as one of the safest soundest banks in the state.
