FRIENDSVILLE Baseball Games Played Friendsville played baseball Sunday with Vindex at Vindex-and what a game! The pitchers were certainly well matched. Welch of Friendsville and Harvey, of Vindex, each allowed three hits, and each were credited with eight strikeouts. Both teams played big league baseball from start to finish, while the spectators and rooters of both teams milled about, tense and eager each for a lead on the the opposition. This came in the sixth inning when Vindex scored one run-and the game ended that way-a victory for Vindex. Crellin played here Friday instead of on Wednesday, as scheduled. The score-6-0, in favor of Friendsville. The next game in which the local team will participate will be with Peerless at Peerless. Operetta Presented The pretty operetta, "Sugar and Spice," which was given by the high school students under Miss Conley's direction last Saturday night, was well attended and much enjoyed. Bank May Be Re-opened The plan for re-opening the First National Bank of Friendsville has been approved by the Treasury Department in Washington and the directors and stockholders held a meeting in the bank building on Monday evening where the matter was fully discussed. Opening these closed banks is no easy task, but we believe Friendsville will not shirk and we expect to have a going concern here again before many weeks elapse.
