A DUCHESS DEAD

Dampierre, France, Feb. 3—(AP)—The Dowager Duchess Duzes, advocate of women's rights, died here today. She was 85 years old.

BACK TO PRISON

While a Wichita attorney was endeavoring to secure $5,000 for bond for Glen Fansler held for district court trial as one of the National bank bandits at Herington, a guard from the state reformatory appeared with commitments revoking his parole. Fansler is now in the reformatory but will be brought back to Abilene for trial at the next term of court as a bank robber.

TO PAY DIVIDENDS

Dividends will be paid depositors of failed banks by C. W. Johnson this month as follows: Girard state bank 5 per cent Feb. 4, Farmers State of Burdick 25 per cent on Feb. 10, South Haven State 10 percent Feb 10, Alton State 15 percent on Feb. 11, Fort Scott State 1 percent final on Feb. 18, Sylvia State 20 percent Feb. 23.

ANDERSON NOT DEAD?

The identification of a slain negro near Ft. Riley as "Slim" Anderson brings a denial from Mrs. E. A. Anderson of Emporia who has written Geary officers that her husband "Slim" is alive in that city.

PAYS OFF $46,992

Herington has paid off $46,992 in city bonds in the last year. Water and light revenue decreased 14 per cent, but operating costs were cut 21 per cent.
