Mr. Truesdale had fitted up several rooms over the Birdno Bros. building for lodging purposes. Writing to THE GUARDIAN from Long Beach, Mr. J. M. Foster says: "I have been to see every large contractor in Los Angeles and find that all of them are getting hay in California and elsewhere. Hay is now $10 in Los Angeles, and I am told alfalfa hay 18 as cheap between here and Frisco. As we haven't much of a supply, I don't suppose it will affect us there. The weather is delightful here. Long Beach is growing fast. Had a run on the First National bank here yesterday and they had more than double amount necessary for all demands. so the run was a failure. Mr. J C.
