Reports of Shortage Cause Heavy Withdrawals From Town Savings Institution County National Transfers $400,000 to vide Funds to Meet Demands of Depositors, Including Scores of Mill Workers; State Commissioner Says Bank Fundamentally Sound; Treasurer Was Asked to Resign WORCESTER, July 16 entire police force of the town of Millbury was called out today when depositors of the Millbury bank started a run on the institution as a result of reports of a shortage that follow an audit of the bank's accounts. Although state banking officials expressed behef the bank was sound, the heavy withdrawals caused transfer of $400,000 from the Worcester County National bank in Worcester to provide funds to meet the demands of the frightened depositors, who included scores of workers from the Millbury factories. Rumors Start Run On Milbury Bank (Continued from Page Ore) bank's condition revealed deposits of $5,050,750. Officials said today that there was a surplus of about $500,000 and securities valued at more than $1,000,000 Most of the withdrawals were said to have been small but one account of $11 000 was reported to have been closed. Those who sought to remove their funds from the institution included scores of workers in Millbury manufacturing plants. State police patrols guarded the streets of this town tonight.

Bank Clerk Given Back Job After Disappearance Millbury, Mass., July 30. Miss Hagstrom, former chief clerk of Millbury bank, who disappeared June 10. following the visit of bank at the Institution returned to her home Saturday, was learned today. She has accepted the Invitation of the Millbury bank officials to resume her position the bank. The officials said they have no reason to believe Miss Hagstrom criminally at fault for what was thought to shortage of $5,000 to $6,000 in the bank's accounts and which precipitated two day which the paid out about $400,000 to depositors.
