TEXAS DEPOSITORS CAUSE BANK TO QUIT BUSINESS RANGER, Texas, Feb. 19 -The First National Bank of Ranger, with deposits aggregating half a million dollars, failed to open its doors yesterday and steps have been taken to turn the institution over to the federal bank examiner for an adjustment of its affairs. Reports of financial difficulties, circulated earlier in the week, resulted in a run on the bank on Thursday and there was not sufficient cash on hand to weather the storm. The cause of the bank's trouble, according to officials of the institution, was inability to realize on loans.

DEFENDANTS WIN BANK CASE AFTER FIVE YEAR FIGHT
Texas, 10. Five years' through several courts ended Wednesday night when a district jury here returned verdict for the defunct Ranger First National Bank and Its receiver, R. B. Caldwell, defendants in case Involving more than $10,000 alleged to have been placed in the bank on special deposit. Suit was brought by W. W. Price. V. A. Noble, C. S. Wick and H. Devaux, promoters of the Guaranty and State Bank of Ellasville, Young county, which they attempted to organize in 1920. The receiver alleged that the four were professional bank promoters and that they had collected $22,000 in notes and $13,000 in cash from farmers about Ellasville to open the Ellasville bank. The promoters claimed they deposited the money in the Ranger bank as trust fund until $60,000 cash, required for the new bank's charter, had been obtained. The Ellasville bank never opened as the Ranger bank closed with the former's funds It was proven yesterday that the money was checking account and that the Ellasville promoters had drawn on the funds. It was also shown that the promoters lost nothing and that the losers were farmers, some of whom were to have been directors of the Ellasville bank.
Bank runs are almost always and everywhere a deterioration of bank fundamentals.
But not for you.
You are the measure-zero exception: great fundamentals, solid bank, and yet the Diamond Dybvig fairy spread its rumor. Depositors woke up. Your collateral was not prepositioned. The Clearinghouse had it for you.
Do not pass Go. Do not collect $200. Go directly to jail… or worse.
