MARCH GAS TAX IS DISTRIBUTED Dakota County Gets $1,631 of Total for Nebraska in March Lincoln—(Special)—The ninety-three counties in Nebraska have received a total of $239,978.93 as their share of the gas tax collections for March, State Treasurer Hall has announced. Antelope county received $2,753; Boone, $2,350.34; Boyd, $1,014.57; Brown, $916.10; Burt, $2,338.03; Cedar, $2,422.43; Colfax, $2,168.30; Cuming, $2,619.92; Dakota, $1,631.17; Dixon, $1,795.28; Dodge, $4,923.77; Holt, $2,449.98; Keya Paha, $450.72; Knox, $2,794.03; Madison, $4,375.39; Merrick, $1,896.10 Nance, $1,513.36; Pierce, $1,916.02; Platte, $3,662.08; Rock, $510.50; Stanton, $1,393.80; Thurston, $1,357.45; Washington, $2,357.96; Wayne, $2,010.98. Second honors went to Jeannete Dillon, 10, daughter of Mrs. C. T. Dillon. She is a sixth grader and Miss Florence Armhurst is her teacher. Elizabeth Freese, 13, an eighth grader, placed third. In the oral division, Ralph Batenhorst of St. Boniface school, whose teacher is Sister Camille, won first place; James Tighe of the Bancroft schools, won second place and Paul Steuter of Guardian Angels school, West Point, third place. CROWS DASHED TO DEATH Geneva, Neb. — (Special) — During a recent heavy windstorm which occurred in the night here, 27 crows, which sought shelter in the grove at the John Wittmack farm home, were blown out of the trees and against the house with such force that they were killed. The family heard the noise and thought the chimney was falling down, a few bricks at a time.
