LOCAL BANKS COMPLY WITH STATE AND NATIONAL HOLIDAY Complying with the bank holiday proclamation issued by Governor Bryan Saturday morning. which later became nation wide by order of the president, the Security State bank and the Curtis State bank suspended business. The course of the financial institutions rests now largely with the action of the federal government. The action in both federal and state government is moving smoothly and it is probable that a plan of procedure will be announced in a short time. As this applied locally it means that the Curtis banks will operate on the same plan that will be used with other strong banks and that this community will suffer no unnecessary inconvenience. While no definite announcement can be made as to when or upon what plan the banks will open, it is predicted that withdrawals will be restricted. The plan will provide a means for carrying on normal business and prevent loss to depositors. The holiday announcement was received calmly in Curtis. The feeling seems to prevail here as elsewhere that the present situation marks the end of a period and that with the straightening out of the banking problem, financial conditions will improve.
