RUN IS STARTED ON A BANK AT BENSON Possibility of a Failure Say Bank's Officials. STATE CONTROLS BANK OF BENSON Oldest Institution in Omaha Suburb in Examiners' Hands. For the purpose of conducting it back to solvency or liquidating its assets, the state of Nebraska Thurs day took over the Bank of Benson. There will be no loss to depositors as the guaranty fund commission will be in charge of affairs, working out as sets and eventually paying off all de positors if It should become necessary to close the institution. George B. Buckner of the state banking department, is in charge of the bank's affairs and will continue to operate the bank He is assisted by two state bank examiners. Inability to realize on frozen loans is given as the cause of the state taking over the bank, which is said to have assets if close to $1,000,000. Deposits in the bank were in ex cess of $900,000 until a few daysago, when small run on the bank began. "The bank will be continued as going concern, Kirk Griggs, head of the state banking department, said Thursday night. Griggs said Thursday afternoon that the department would conduct the bank until its affairs have been straightened out, He said, also, that depositors would not lose, owing to the guarantee fund. which assures depositors in the bank that their in terests will be protected.
