NAME RECEIVER FOR COHOCTAH Bank Organized In 1915 Asks Voluntary Liquidation FAY NOW RECEIVER BELIEVED ACTUAL LOSS TO DEPOSITORS SMALL WHEN ASSETS ARE COLLECTED Thursday morning the Bank of Cohoctah located in Cohoctah village closed its doors. Papers asking voluntary liquidation and receiver were at once filed in Circuit Court by Attorney Don W. VanWinkle and Eugene A. Fay, cashier of the First National Bank was named to take charge by Judge Joseph Collins. The Bank of Cohoctah was organized in 1915 and has served the community well for 15 years. The present stockholders are John Wrigglesworth, Fred Smith, Fred Schrepfer, R. S. Houghton, H. G. Houghton, E. Westphall and W. B. Jones Estate. John Wrigglesworth is President and Cashier. At the time a receiver was askit is reported that deposits amounted approximately $40,000.00, and $37,000.00 was represented by collectable notes and mortgages, the difference being adequately cared for by equities in real estate. Speaking of the voluntary liquidation of the bank, Receiver E. Fay states that it may take some months or better to clear up the situation and know the outcome for depositors. The process of inventoring is now going and legal work attached to collection of notes due will be commenced as soon as legal assistance is allowed by the court. Those close to the situation flect much optimism in the matter and although no direct statements are made feeling prevails that depositors will suffer very little actual loss, if any, the inconvenience of having their funds tied for indefinite period will an the only serious loss in the proceedings.
