Byron Bank Receiver Starts Suits for $9,000 The first lawsuits started in Shiawassee county to collect bank assessments, since the banking holiday of 1933, were filed in circuit court Monday afternoon by C. F. McDivitt, receiver of the Byron State bank which never opened after the holiday. The defendants are John L. Van Alstine, former cashier of the bank, and Edward Wolfin, a stockholder. The receiver sets up that Van Alstine owned 50 shares of stock at a par value of $100 per share and that Wolfin had 10 shares. He seeks to recover $7,500 from Van Alstine and $1,500 from Wolfin. McDivitt says that the assets of the bank are not sufficient to pay off the depositors.
