LATE POET CARLETON'S NEIGHBOR DIES AT 95 HILLSDALE—(AP)—Phillip A. Cowley, 95, oldest resident of Hudson, died Monday. He was one of four surviving members of Co. E., 18th Michigan Infantry, which fought in the Civil war. For 61 years Cowley lived on a farm across from the farm of Will Carleton, noted Michigan poet. Services will be held Wednesday afternoon. BANK RECEIVER GIVEN JUDGMENT FOR $15,000 CENTREVILLE—John C. Condon, receiver for the First State Savings Bank of Three Rivers, was granted a default judgment of $15,000 against George T. Wolf, former president of the bank, by Circuit Judge Theo T. Jacobs here Monday afternoon. The suit was based on a 100 per cent stock assessment levied at the time the bank closed, Wolf owning 150 shares of the bank's stock, valued at $100 a share.
